Abstract

|
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of child counselor’s job stress on countertransference management ability according to experiences about supervision. The subjects of this study were 188 counselors who are doing counseling with children under 18 years of age. The collected data were analyzed by frequency analysis and multi-regression analysis. The result showed that child counselor’s job stress were affected on countertransference management ability. When child counselor didn’t have job challenge, the degree of self-insight, empathy ability, self-integration, anxiety management and conceptualizing skills is lower. When counselor had much experience of role ambiguousness, the degree of self-insight and empathy ability is lower. When non-supervised counselor didn’t have job challenge, the degree of self-insight, empathy ability, self-integration, anxiety management and conceptualizing skills is lower. When non-supervised counselor had much experience of role conflict, the degree of self-integration and anxiety management is lower. When non-supervised counselor had much experience of role ambiguousness, the degree of self-insight, empathy ability, self-integration and conceptualizing skills supervision is lower. But, only when the counselor with experience about supervision didn’t have job challenge, the degree of empathy ability, self-integration, anxiety management and conceptualizing skills is lower. The result showed that job stress has more negative effects on the non-supervised counselor in countertransference management ability than the supervised counselor.
